I have been posting blindly for months without any real definition of who I am. I am sure you all are just dying to know who has been posting such amazing content for you. (Right?…right?)
Hello, ya’ll, my name is Jes…I am a certified boot camp and group instructor. My passion is fitness and fun. I believe that a proper combo of the two are what makes up success when it comes to not only losing weight but getting yourself back into tip top shape.
I have not always been a trainer…in fact this is something that is fairly new to me, as I have only been in the business for about six months. I have been on my own fitness journey for over two year now and have been constantly impressed and moved by the power of this journey and just how damn important it is. I still, like most people, struggle every single day to make the right choices and to make the time for myself…but this is a process and I like to not only remind myself that, but also my clients.
About two years ago, right after I had my second daughter, I could barely run down the sidewalk…In October of last year I ran my very first 10k and actually placed 1st in my age group. The tears…they did fall. I for the first time in my life…blew my own mind. The feeling of coming across that finish line, running the entire 6+ miles without stopping…was just indescribable. I felt like a rock star.
For the first time in my life I had taken control, I had set my mind to something and I did it. And not only did I do, but I did it well. Consider me sold on this whole working out thing.
I have always secretly wanted to be a trainer but never had the right amount of drive to make it happen. I would always get scared or convince myself that it wasn’t something that I could actually do. Silly me, if only I knew now what I didn’t know then. Had I started this journey years ago…I would totally be a millionaire by now. Damn you hindsight.
I taught my first class just over six months ago and immediately fell in love. I had found where I was supposed to be, I found where I belonged and exactly what I was supposed to be doing with my life.
I take so much joy in seeing other accomplish things that they never thought they could. It makes me proud as a trainer to see people push through, to break down walls and to every once in a while throw up. I love when people throw up. (Unless it’s because they’re pregnant…that takes a lot of joy out of it.)
My style is a good solid mix of yelling and laughing. One of the things that I really, really push in my class is to never take yourselves too damn seriously. No one else does, so why should you? This is all a part of a very big journey…so why not make it a fun, exciting and an interesting one?
I never want my clients to feel unloved, unsupported or as if they are just a number. I take the time to not only get to know them but make sure that they know how special they are, how strong they are, and how important they are.
Sometimes throughout the journey it is easy to give up, to want to walk away, my goal is to help encourage people through those feelings. I want them to know that those feelings are normal and they shouldn’t feel as if they are wrong by feeling them, just that I cannot have them get lost in those feelings. I need them to figure out how to work through them. Maybe you need a day off, maybe you need a harder workout, maybe you just need to talk…whatever it is…I’m there for them.
This is my passion. This is my dream. This is my life. All day every day…I am doing what I love. Doesn’t matter if I am training a class, chatting on the Facebook page, doing marketing, or taking a day off…I am in love with every single piece of it.
Remember that the finish line isn’t a size two pair of jeans…the finish line is loving yourself just the way you are. Enjoying the power and beauty of your body and all of the amazing and incredible things you can do with it.
Thank you all for letting me continue this and to share my passion with you. I hope that you enjoy the site and we can have some fun around here.
I am here if you need me…See you out there…
Jes
